Text-Process-Text: Questions in Process Oriented Research on Translation and Interpreting

Process oriented research on translation and interpreting has developed strongly during the last decades, partly thanks to the availability of new research methods, including new methods for on-line data collection. Important advances have been made using e.g. introspective methods, key- logging of the writing process, and eye-tracking. Questions addressed have included problems and strategies, working memory constraints in the process, monitoring, revising and self-repairs, but also aspects such as the use of tools in the process, the role of creativity, and the processing of particular textual aspects.

This conference has a strong focus on both texts and processes and explores the possibilities for studying both aspects in combination. We particularly welcome presentations addressing issues like

  • possibilities and limits of inferring processes from texts
  • possibilities and limits in using process data to explain and predict textual characteristics
  • triangulation of different methods, for studying both text and process

Hotels
Our university campus is not in the centre of Stockholm, so there is really no hotel which would qualify as being nearby. The trick is to stay in a hotel which is near the underground, preferrably the "red line", number 14, and preferrably in the northern half of Stockholm, since the university is north of the centre. You could look for hotels claiming to be close to the following underground stations: Mariatorget, Slussen, Gamla Stan, T-centralen, Östermalmstorg, Tekniska högskolan. Another option is to stay near the square Odenplan where there are 2 buses, number 40 and number 70, taking you to the campus. Both with the bus, and with the underground from the aforementioned stations), the journey to the campus will take some 10-15 minutes.
